Sammy Highsmith

Funeral Director / Embalmer / Owner

Sammy has lived in the Commerce area all of his life, he is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, and licensed with the State of Georgia as a funeral director and embalmer. He and his wife bought the funeral home from John Ivie, and have faithfully served the people of the Commerce and surrounding areas with care and compassion for a number of years. Sammy is a member of the First Baptist Church, Commerce.

Sharon Taylor Highsmith

Administrative Assistant / Owner

Sharon grew up in the Commerce area and has lived here all of her life. She and her husband, Sammy bought the funeral home from John Ivie and have faithfully served the people of the Commerce and surrounding areas with care and compassion for a number of years. Sharon is a very active member of the First Baptist Church, Commerce, Meals on Wheels and the Pine Tree Garden Club.

Dakota Stockton

Apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer

Dakota Stockton has been a member of the Ivie Funeral Home team since 2019. He is currently completing his Funeral Service Apprenticeship and is enrolled at the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service, where he is working toward earning his Associate Degree in Funeral Service and eventual state licensure.

Dakota makes his home in Commerce, Georgia, with his wife, Hannah, and their daughter, Sutton. They are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their daughter, Shiloh.

A 2020 graduate of Piedmont College, Dakota earned a degree in Drama Education. He also serves as the choir director and is an active member of Pond Fork Baptist Church in Pendergrass, Georgia.

Brian Ivey

Funeral Ambassador

Brian R. Ivey is a native to Hall County and graduated from North Hall High School. He has served in the funeral industry for over 25+ years. He is the son of Ronald and Dianne Ivey. Brian is married to Tracy Ivey and has three daughters, Abigail, Ansley and AvaGrace, who are very active in the East Hall Community. Brian and his family have been very active in several churches locally and he has played drums with many groups throughout the years.

Brian is the newly elected coroner of Banks County and looks forward to serving his community with dignity and respect. He is currently on the worship team at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church in Dawsonville, GA.

Arnold Brown

Licensed Funeral Director / Embalmer / Crematory Operator

Arnold brings over 40 years of experience to the Ivie Funeral Home Team. He and his wife, Debbie reside in Madison County.

Sandy Sartain

Secretary

Sandy graduated from Madison County High School in 1994, and Athens Tech in 1998 with a legal secretarial Diploma. She and her husband Matt have 2 kids, Peyton and Audrie & Stewart Bailey.

Mackie Etris

Funeral Ambassador

Mackie Etris, a retired Army Veteran and a life long resident of Homer, Georgia serves as a funeral ambassador and assistant embalmer.

Mackie is an integral member of Homer Presbyterian Church and has two daughters and five grandchildren.

Mackie is eager to assist all of the families we serve with kindness.

Cathy Fletcher

Visitation Attendant

Cathy Fletcher is a life long resident of Commerce. She is happily retired from Baker and Taylor and the widow of Larry Fletcher.

Cathy is blessed with two children Russ & Aimee Fletcher and Zak & Karen Fletcher along with six wonderful grandchildren.

Cathy's friendly and compassionate spirit shines through with every family she serves.

Gary Thompson

Funeral Director / Embalmer

Gary is an experienced funeral director and embalmer having served families on our community for over 20years.
He and his wife Charlene serve the Cross Roads Worship Center, Church of God in Commerce.

Gary also is the owner of Expressive Monuments and helps families honor their loved ones with personalized grave markers that honor a cherished memory.

Floyd Butler

Funeral Ambassador

Floyd is a resident of Madison County, GA, a ten year veteran at Ivie Funeral Home.

He is married to Margie Butler and is an encouragement to all who meet him.
