Dorothy Owens

Dorothy Hooper Owens, age 96 of Alto, Georgia,, went  home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2022.  Born on July 20, 1925, in the Grove Level  community of Banks County. Georgia, Ms Owens was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie Mae Hooper.  She was a homemaker and of the Christain Faith.  Ms. Owens loved Jesus, and everyone she met.  She was loved by many and was known throughout the Yonah community as Mother Dorothy.  She is preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Owens Armour, brothers Deward (Minnie) Hooper, Roy F. ( Lorene) Hooper and Dallas Hooper. sisters, Clara Hooper, Ruth (Giles) Evans   Mary (Paul) Rowe .,  Survivors include her sons Douglas Owens and Denver Owens of Alto. Bonus sons Tony Thomas of Alto, Dayton Sosbee of Alto, son in law L.J. Armour of Clarkesville.  Grandchildren, Nicholas ( Sabrina) Armour of Gainesville, Cheree (Matt) Alexander of Clarkesville and 6 great grandchildren, Brother Ronald Hooper of Cornelia and special niece and caregiver, LaDonna Plum of Alto.  Ms. Owens is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great great niece.  The family would also like to  thank the Northeast Georgia Hospice team led by Becky Hooper, as well as Katie Shows, for their role in caregiving and their willingness to go above and beyond for Ms. Owens care.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022 at Grove Level Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-7pm Wednesday evening at Ivie Funeral Home.
