Zachary Morgan McCann, a beloved County Extension Agent in Banks County, passed away on August 8, 2025, at the age of 34 in Maysville, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 2, 1991, in Athens, Georgia, Zachary was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. His passion for agriculture and community service propelled him into a career where he made significant contributions to local farming practices and education. As a County Extension Agent, Zachary dedicated himself to enriching the lives of others through research-based information and support, representing the values of integrity and compassion in all his endeavors.
Zachary was not only committed to his professional life but also dedicated to his family and personal interests. He was the love of Lindsey Wiseman McCann, his devoted wife, and a cherished father to his daughter, Kinsley Wiseman-McCann. His family was his pride and joy, and he worked tirelessly to create a nurturing environment for them.
He was deeply involved in various organizations, reflecting his spirit of service and community engagement. As a member of "Man Up To Cancer," he was an advocate for men facing cancer, bringing hope and support to those battling the disease. He also participated in local 4-H Sheep Clubs, where he shared his knowledge and passion for agriculture with the youth of Banks County. His leadership extended to serving as the Chair Holder of the Banks County Farm Bureau and being an active member of Young Farmers. Zachary even showcased his skills in competitive forums, such as Discussion Meets, earning respect from peers and community members alike.
Zachary is survived by his wife, Lindsey Wiseman McCann; his daughter, Kinsley; his parents, Mark McCann and Julia Snyder McCann; and his brother, Josh McCann, and his wife, Jennifer. He is also survived by his uncle Lindsay (Shari) Snyder and his childhood friend, Jake Hayes. His legacy of love, dedication to service, and commitment to his community and family will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we remember Zachary, let us honor the lasting impact he had on all of our lives and the joy he brought to those around him.
