Virginia Nell Meeler, a cherished mother, grandmother, and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Commerce, Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 29, 1941, in Auburn, Georgia, Virginia lived a life marked by dedication and warmth, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Virginia devoted many years to her craft as a seamstress, a career that reflected her meticulous nature and creative spirit. Her talent and hard work were evident in every stitch, and she took great pride in the fine workmanship that characterized her life's work. Though retired, the legacy of her dedication and skill continued to inspire those around her.
Virginia was predeceased by her father, Gene Martin, her mother, Ruth Wilkins Martin, her husband, Billy Meeler, and two brothers. Despite these losses, she was surrounded by a loving family who stood steadfast by her side throughout her life.
She is survived by her children: Randy Wofford and his wife Julie of Stone Mountain; Scottie Howington, who divides his time between Nicholson and Nierstein, Germany; Jimmy Dean Howington of Commerce; Dina Galloway of Commerce; and Tami Brown and her husband Shane of Comer. Virginia’s family extended beyond her children to include several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for her.
Funeral services will be held at Ivie Funeral Home, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Grey Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Virginia Nell Meeler’s life was marked by resilience, love, and unwavering commitment to her family and community. Her memory will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her. As family and friends gather to honor her life and legacy, they celebrate a remarkable woman whose spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all she touched.
