Vera was the daughter of the late David H. and Mae Louise Griner Newton and the widow of Ernest S. Carter. Survivors include her son David S. Carter of Sautee, Ga. along with 2 daughters Barbara King of Hudson, Mass. and Gale Allen of Homer. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
