Mark Waldrop

November 4, 1952 — November 11, 2025

Danielsville, GA

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen “Mark” Waldrop, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. Born November 4, 1952, Mark passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Mark built a life he loved, with a family he cherished, in Ila, Georgia. Though he retired from the USDA in 2015, Mark’s cherished role and life’s work was as a dedicated husband and father. Mark was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, as a Troop Leader and supporter, from the time his youngest son entered Tiger cubs, until well after he became an Eagle Scout. Mark loved the outdoors and instilled a love of camping and travel in his family. After retiring, Mark was able to devote more time to experiencing the places and adventures life had to offer. Though, he never hesitated to enjoy a quiet moment at home, whether cooking a good meal, or tending to his garden. Mark was happy as long as those around him felt safe, loved, and well-fed.

His kind heart and gentle strength will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to have been loved by him.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Debra (Escoe) Waldrop, and their children Travis, Marisa, and Nickolas. Additionally, he leaves behind his siblings, Chuck (Evelyn) Waldrop, Pam Waldrop, and Tony Waldrop; in-laws, Tommy and Peggy (Escoe) Lord; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who Mark loved as his own.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Waldrop and Marjorie (Perkins) Waldrop; sister, Connie Cioffi; and his cherished Grandmother, Louelle “Bubba” Perkins.

Mark’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held 1-3 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the Comer Travel Museum in Comer, GA with a Celebration of Life beginning at 3 PM.
