Shirley Ann Samples, a cherished retired seamstress, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Danielsville, Georgia. Born on September 28, 1957, in Commerce, Georgia, Shirley lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a vibrant spirit that touched all who knew her.
As a skilled seamstress, Shirley contributed her talents through years of careful craftsmanship and creativity, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful handiwork and a reputation for meticulous care in her trade. Her attention to detail mirrored the thoughtful care she showed in her relationships with family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Travis and Margie Smith Simmons; her devoted spouse, Billy Joe "Dusty" Samples; her son, Benjamin Samples; her sister, Belinda Simmons, as well as brothers Travis Simmons, Jr., Thomas Simmons, David Simons, and Samuel Ray "Bo" Simmons. These family members held a special place in her heart, and their memories continue to be a cherished part of her life story.
She is survived by her brother, Jimmy Simmons, and her sisters, Julie Echols, Carol Parr, Rita Seabolt, and Angela Elrod. Her family extended warmly through her grandchildren, Change Samples and Canyon Samples, and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabella, and Willow Samples. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who fondly remember her generous and nurturing nature.
A visitation to honor Shirley’s life will be held on March 29, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, Georgia. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place at 3:00 PM that same day and place, bringing together those who loved her to celebrate her enduring spirit and warm heart.
Shirley Ann Samples’ life was one of quiet strength, skilled artistry, and deep family devotion. She leaves behind a profound and lasting impression on all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who grieve her loss, and her legacy will live on through the love of her family and friends.
