Shirley Susan Pittman Kingsolver, a devoted homemaker and cherished mother, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Hull, Georgia. Born on April 25, 1947, in Williamsburg, Virginia, Shirley lived a life marked by dedication to her family and the warmth of her home.
As a loving mother and grandmother, Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her son, Billy DeCastro, and her daughter, Tina Bishop, who both carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Shirley’s family expanded through her grandchildren: Nathan (Brittany) Bishop, Jason Booth; Tabitha (Rodel) Rutger, Karlee (Cory) Swain, Jessica and Jamie DeCastro. Her love extended through to the next generation with 16 great-grandchildren who will always remember her gentle spirit and enduring influence.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Pittman, and her beloved spouse, Glenn Kingsolver. Their memories remain a treasured part of her story and the foundation upon which her family was built.
Throughout her life, Shirley embraced her role as a homemaker with grace and dedication, crafting a nurturing environment filled with love and unwavering support. Her presence in the lives of her family and friends was a source of comfort and inspiration.
The family honors Shirley Susan Kingsolver’s memory, grateful for the many years they shared and the countless ways she enriched their lives. Her legacy lives on through the love and bonds she nurtured so deeply.
A cremation will be taking place per the deceased wishes.
