Rogers Pace, 97 a life-long resident of Commerce and small business owner passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Bountiful Hills in Commerce, Georgia.

Rogers was born on October 30, 1928, to the late John and Cora Stewart Pace of Commerce. Rogers served proudly in the United States Army, Company B, 7th Calvary Regiment from 1953-1955 during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of the Athens VFW and a member of Mt. Bethel Methodist Church. Upon returning home from the Korean War, he opened and operated AAA Refrigeration Heating and Air until 1995 when he retired due to health reasons. He proudly served people in Banks, Jackson and the surrounding counties for years.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Cora Pace, his first wife of 43 years, Doris Cain Pace, along with a second wife of 20 years, Ruth McElroy Pace. His son, Roger Michael “Mike” Pace Sr.; brothers, J.C. Pace, Horace Pace; sisters, Louise Pace Hart, Genevieve Pace Burke, O’Neal Pace; and son-in-law, Robin Lord, all of Commerce.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Jean Lord of Maysville; and his son, Lamar “Buck” Pace (Jenny) of Commerce. Seven grandchildren who lovingly call him Papa Pace who he loved and enjoyed spending time with all of them, Jason Lord, Jessica Lord of Commerce, Jacob Lord (Kayla) of Maysville, Roger “Michael” Pace, Jr. (Christine), and Jeremy Pace (Brandi) of Gillsville, Alex Buffington (Mike) of Baldwin, and Elisha Curry of Macon.

Rogers was the great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren, Cayden Lord, Riley Pace Lord, Camryn Lord, Eli Savage, Emilia Savage, Alexander “AJ” Patrick, and Lanie Patrick all of Commerce; Harris Lord, Hagen Lord, and Hogan Lord of Maysville; Roger Michael “Trey” Pace, Bella Pace and Beverly Pace, all of Gillsville. Seven nieces and nephews as well as several cousins all survive.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Verlin Reece officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 PM until the funeral hour Sunday at the funeral home.
