Roger L. Givens

Roger L. Givens, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Athens, Georgia. Born on April 1, 1949, in Hartford, Kentucky, Roger dedicated his life to his family and his work, notably serving as a proud coal miner until his retirement.

He was a loving husband to Charlotte (Ryan) Givens, with whom he shared 23 cherished years of marriage. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. Roger is survived by his sons, Ricky Young and Jay Givens, and his daughter, Angela Burkhalter. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were the light of his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Roger was the beloved brother of David Givens and Kenny Givens. He enjoyed strong bonds with his brothers, sharing many experiences and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A valued member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Greenville, Kentucky, Roger found comfort and community within his faith. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
