Rita Blalock Fountain of Athens, Georgia entered into rest November 4th, 2014 at Athens Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Rita was born September 19th, 1954 in Commerce, Georgia to Grover and Mamie Lee (Shelnut) Blalock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mamie LaShea Waldrop; sisters, Faye Arwood and Hazel Leachman; and brother, Gene Blalock.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Justin (Megan) Fountain of Athens; granddaughter, Lexi Waldrop; sisters, Linda (Luthur) Ayers of Homer and Etta Jane Leach of Commerce; brothers, Harold Blalock of Athens, David (Betty) Blalock of Danielsville, and Paul (Evelyn) Blalock of Danielsville; and twenty three nieces and nephews.
She was of the Baptist faith and had been employed as a caregiver for just over eleven years to a young man, Lucus James.
The family will receive friends at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce Friday November 7th, 2014 from 6 pm until 9 pm and Saturday November 8th, 2014 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. A memorial will be held at 12:30 pm at Ivie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday November 8th, 2014 at 2 pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
