Paul Roger Scoggins, age 94, of Commerce, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, surrounded by family and lifted by Scripture, prayer, and love.
Born in Commerce on November 6, 1931, Paul was the son of Arthur and Emma Scoggins. From the very beginning, his life was marked by determination, devotion, and a quiet strength that carried him through nearly a century of service.
Paul proudly served 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring with honor as a Master Sergeant. As part of the Air Force police, he was stationed all over the world, protecting others with unwavering discipline and commitment. After retiring from the military, Paul returned home to Commerce, where he and his beloved wife built their forever home. He went on to work faithfully for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, demonstrating once again his deep sense of duty and dedication.
A man who lived his values, Paul devoted his life not only to his country, but also to God. For more than 50 years, he was a faithful Christian and a member of the Commerce Church of Christ, where he was baptized and found his spiritual home. Paul participated in numerous missionary trips to Ukraine following the fall of the Soviet Union, helping to establish churches and a preaching school. His work touched countless lives and will continue to bear fruit for generations.
Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean Scoggins, the love of his life and constant companion. Together they raised three children — Paula, Thomas, and Denise — and were blessed with a large family: nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on not only in their names but in their character, their faith, and the example he set.
A man of few words, Paul spoke with intention always loving, always steady, always sincere. He had a dry sense of humor and a laugh that warmed the room. He enjoyed reading western novels and anything connected to John Wayne, a fitting match for his own quiet, strong, and principled nature.
A memorial service will be held on 11AM, December 13th at the Commerce Church of Christ, followed by a private family burial.
Paul lived a long, faithful, and honorable life. His influence will continue in every person he taught, encouraged, protected, or quietly guided. His example remains steady, committed, and true.
