Mary Evelyn Vickery

Mary Evelyn Vickery, a beloved homemaker, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Athens, Georgia, at the age of 69. Born on March 29, 1956, in Commerce, Georgia, she was the daughter of W.C. and Evelyn Leachman Baker.

Mary spent her life dedicated to her family, nurturing a warm and loving home. She was a proud mother to her two sons, Richard Samuel Vickery and Fredrick Marcus Vickery, who were a source of great joy and pride for her. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Zora, Hannah Grace, Drake Samuel, and Abigail Elizabeth, all of whom brought immense happiness into her life.

In addition to her immediate family, Mary is survived by her brothers Bill Baker, Guy Baker, Terry Baker, and Jerry Baker, as well as her sister Deborah Lavender. She also leaves behind many fond memories and stories shared with her family and friends.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, W.C. and Evelyn Leachman Baker, her son William Claude Vickery, and her siblings Danny Baker and Gail Brown. Their memories remain a cherished part of her life, reflecting the deep connections she held with those she loved.

As we remember Mary Vickery, we celebrate her unwavering spirit, devotion to family, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her loved ones.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00AM until the service hour.
