Mary Sue Carthern Parker passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, in Danielsville, Georgia, at the age of 72. Born on February 2, 1954, in Jefferson, Georgia, Mary was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend to many.
Mary's enduring kindness and strength were evident throughout her life, guiding her family with love and steadfast support. She was preceded in death by her dear mother, Betty Priest, and her brother, Jackson Jones, whose memories remained ever close to her heart.
She is survived by her devoted son, Michael (Michelle) Jones, and loving daughter, Brandie (Ramey) Bowles. Mary’s presence will be particularly missed by her siblings: brother Ralph (Brenda) Carthern, and sisters Betty Jo Sellers and Julie Sellers, all of whom shared deep bonds of family and friendship with her. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, all touched by her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering encouragement.
Those who knew Mary remember her as a source of comfort and a pillar of strength. Her compassion, dedication to her loved ones, and the values she instilled will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Ivie Funeral Home, 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, Georgia, on Saturday , July 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at Ivie Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Mary will be laid to rest at Jackson Memorial Gardens, 6825 Jefferson Road, Commerce, Georgia, on the same day.
As Mary Sue Parker is remembered, her love and spirit will remain always with those she held dear. Her life was a true reflection of generosity, kindness, and enduring devotion to family—a legacy that will inspire all who knew her for years to come.
