Loleta Jane Brown, born on September 17, 1942, in Maxey, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, in Gainesville, Georgia. She was 83 years old. Loleta’s journey through life was marked by the warmth she shared with family and friends, the quiet strength she carried, and the grace with which she met each day.
Loleta’s early years in Maxey shaped her resilient character and cultivated the compassion for which she was so well known. Over the years, she became a cherished presence in the lives of those around her, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.
Loleta is survived by loving family members who will carry her memory forward: Tommy Brown, Mary Riley, Mattie Morris, and Rachel Burtchaellj, along with fifteen nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Their devotion and care for her have been a testament to the close bonds Loleta nurtured throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tom S. Brown, mother, Nellie Mae McCoy Brown; siblings, Daisy Nell Jones, and Dean Brown. The passing of these dear loved ones marked profound moments in Loleta’s life, and now she is lovingly reunited with them.
Those who knew Loleta will remember her for her sincerity, her gentleness, and the dignified way she lived. She faced life’s joys and challenges with a steady heart and unfailing love for the people dear to her.
A visitation to honor Loleta’s memory will be held on June 25, 2026, at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Loleta will be laid to rest in a burial service at Diamond Hill Baptist Church, Maysville, GA 30558.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Loleta are invited to come together to pay tribute to a cherished soul whose memory will endure in the hearts of many. May her legacy of kindness and love continue to inspire all those who were privileged to know her.
