Linda Jean Roberts, age 67 of Athens, GA, passed away Monday, January 21st at the St. Mary's Hospice House.
Born October 28th, 1951 in Athens, GA to the late Charlie and Sallie Head Cox, Ms. Roberts was a retired server/cook at Waffle House, and a member of Cornerstone Church of Athens, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Cox and Jerry Cox, as well as four sisters: Sarah Capps, Joyce Wood, Bertha Nell Cox, and Sally Lee Cox.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Wirtz of Athens, GA; sons, Dennis (Tina Marie) Roberts of Hull, GA, and Charlie Lamar Roberts of Hull, GA; brothers, Johnny Cox of Danielsville, GA, Lonnie Cox of Danielsville, GA, and Billy Cox of Athens, GA; and sisters, Gail Herring of Danielsville, GA and Sally McCannon of Danielsville, GA. Ms. Roberts is also survived by 2 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday January 25th at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Hagwood officiating. Burial will follow in Attica Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Thursday night.
