Karen Mildred Dwelly, a beloved counselor and advocate for children’s programs, passed away on September 20, 2025, in Athens, Georgia. Born on September 21, 1972, in Syracuse, New York, Karen dedicated her life to nurturing and guiding young minds, positively influencing countless lives through her career.

Karen's legacy is strengthened by her unwavering commitment to the well-being of children, exemplifying her passion and compassion in every endeavor. Her contributions to children’s programs reflected not only her professional dedication but also her heartfelt desire to create a supportive environment for all.

She leaves behind her cherished family, including her son, Thomas Galbraith, and daughter, Ashley McDaniel. Karen was also a treasured grandmother to her grandchildren: Colby McDonald, Easton Hall, Sean McDonald, and Addison McDaniel. She is survived by her brother, Greg Dwelly, who held a special place in her heart.

Karen's family will forever remember her as a caring mother, supportive sister, and doting grandmother, as well as a tireless advocate for children’s rights. Her memory will be honored by those who had the privilege to know her.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Lon David Dwelly, her mother, Shirley Galusha, her son, David McDonald, and her sister, Brenda Williamson. They, too, played significant roles in shaping the person she became and will remain an integral part of her family’s narrative.
