Junior Hoyt Kitchens, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on May 9, 2025, in Hull, Georgia, at the age of 75. Born on January 20, 1950, in Carnesville, Georgia, Junior lived a life filled with hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
A logger with Sanders Logging, Junior's career was marked by his strong work ethic and respect for the land he worked on. His contributions to the logging community reflected not only his professionalism but also his deep-rooted appreciation for the forests that provided both livelihood and sustenance.
Junior served with honor in the United States Army as a Vietnam War Veteran, specifically in the 502 Infantry, Rifleman Company B, 2nd Battalion, where he held the rank of Specialist. His service to his country was a point of great pride for him, and he embodied the values of courage and commitment throughout his life.
A man of faith, Junior was a devoted member of the Baptist community, finding solace and strength in his beliefs that guided him through life's challenges.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Elizabeth Booth Kitchens, along with their beloved daughters: Rebecca (Fred) O'Kelley, Renea Sanders, and Amanda Owens. Junior enjoyed a close bond with his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom he loved dearly and who will carry on his legacy.
Junior was preceded in death by his father, John H. Kitchens; his mother, Kathleen Elrod Kitchens; and his brother, Robert Kitchens. Their memories remain a treasured part of his narrative, shaping the man he became.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529, on May 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on May 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Ivie Funeral Home.
