J.T. Thomason

J.T. Thomason, a cherished member of his community, passed away on July 15, 2025, in Baldwin, GA, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 18, 1951, in Gainesville, GA, and lived a life imbued with simplicity and a deep appreciation for family.

As a self-employed carpenter, J.T. left an indelible mark through the personalized pieces of furniture he crafted for his home, showcasing not only his skills but also his passion for creating beauty in everyday life. His work was a reflection of his personality—a simple man who found joy in the art of carpentry and the love of his family.

J.T. was married to Vickie Higgins Thomason, and together they raised a loving family. He is survived by his son Rodney (Amy) Thomason, his daughters Nicole Thomason and Delisa Hill, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember him fondly. He also leaves behind his sister, Connie Jackson, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.

Preceding J.T. in death were his father, Amon Thomason, and his mother, Victoria Seabolt Thomason. He was also preceded by his son, Scott Thomason, and his brothers LC, RC, JC, JD, T Earnest, and Richard Thomason, along with his sisters Lorraine Lee and Pauline Tanner, and Lois Thomason.

A visitation will be held in his honor on July 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529. A memorial service will follow on July 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Ivie Funeral Home, concluding with an interment at Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

J.T. Thomason will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his kind spirit, and the love he cultivated within his family. He touched many lives, and his legacy will continue through the memories cherished by those who knew him.
