John Robert Matthews

John Robert Matthews, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away on May 14, 2025, in Gainesville, Georgia, at the age of 89. He was born on July 29, 1935, in Braselton, Georgia, and lived a life marked by love, devotion, and service.

John was a cherished member of the Walnut Fork Baptist Church, where he contributed to the spiritual life of his community. His presence was a source of support and inspiration to those around him, demonstrating a commitment to faith that inspired many.

In his personal life, John was the proud father of Lisa Smith (Danny), and son, James Matthews. He found joy in his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom added a unique and cherished chapter to his life.

John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Preston and Delphia Matthews, and his spouse, Diane Stewart Matthews. He also mourned the loss of his sons, Joey Matthews and David Matthews who left a profound impact during their lifetimes.

John Robert Matthews will be remembered not only for the legacy of love he created but also for his profound kindness, hard work, and unwavering faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who carry forward his spirit and values.

A memorial service will be held  at 4 PM on May 25, 2025 at Walnut Fork Baptist Church, Braselton, GA.
