James "Red" Albert Butler, born on September 28, 1948, in Athens, Georgia, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Commerce, Georgia. He was a devoted self-employed truck driver, known for his hard work and dedication to his profession.
Red is survived by his significant other, Debbie Scogins; his brother, William Butler; and several nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply. He was preceded in death by his father, William Butler, whose memory he carried throughout his life.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to pay their respects during a visitation that will be held at Ivie Funeral Home, 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529, on March 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at the same location on March 7, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a gathering to celebrate his life.
James (Red) Albert Butler will be remembered fondly for his kindness and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be missed by many who had the privilege of knowing him.
