Mrs. Hazel Burns was born May 27, 1940 in Jackson County to the late Lynne Eunice Gillespie and the late John Gillespie. She is also preceded in death by her son, Frankie Burns, Jr. and brother, Olin Gillespie. She resided in Jackson County.
Hazel was employed by Ann Highsmith and Dr. Susan Alexander for many years.
She leaves to cherish her two daughters, Mary (Robert) Bolton, Judy (John) Nsong; five sisters, Johnnie Gillespie, Katheleen (Douglas) Gillespie, Betty Ann Rucker, Lizzie Bell Rucker, Deloris Gillespie; four brothers, Charlie Joe Gillespie, George Gillespie, David Gillespie, Warren Borders; three Goddaughters, Linda (Leroy) Niles, Yvonne (Sylvester) Brown, Mary Ann (Craig) Huff; two Godsons, Dr. Sunil Manuel Alexander and Dr. Suresh Mathew Alexander; 10 grandkids; and a host of Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 at Bush River Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
