Guy "Pug" Jr. Gaines

Guy "Pug" Jr. Gaines, age 79, passed away peacefully March 30, 2026 after an extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Shaw Gaines; parents, Clarence and Macy Gaines; sister, Mary Carey Cromer; and brother, Richard Gaines.

He is survived by two daughters, Myra Justice, Athens, Alabama, and Michelle Lyon, Sharp's Chapel, TN; two granddaughters, Leah and Tasheena; six great-grandchildren; a special great-nephew, Brahm Barnett; several nieces and nephews; and siblings, Guynelle Fletcher, Jefferson, Jimmy (Nancy) Gaines, Nicholson, Faye Gaines, Jefferson, Fletcher (Buddy) Gaines, Commerce, Anne (Bobby) Owensby, Nicholson, David (Emily) Gaines, Commerce, and Mark Gaines, Nicholson.

Pug was an Army veteran, avid fisherman, and a retired general contractor.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Owensby officiating. Burial will follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 12 pm Thursday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nicholson Volunteer Fire Department.
