Gussie Hulsey, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Gainesville, Georgia. Born on November 23, 1930, in Towns County, Georgia, Gussie lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family.
A proud matriarch, Gussie was known for her unwavering commitment to her family and her enduring Christian faith. She was the beloved wife of Fred Clarence Hulsey; mother of Clay Hulsey; and mother-in-law of Carol Hulsey and Debbie Hulsey. Gussie's warmth and caring nature extended to her grandchild, as well as to several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry her memory forward.
Gussie is preceded in death by her parents; James A. and Gertrude Ledford Rogers; a son, Carey Hulsey; brothers, Wayne Rogers and Perry Rogers; and sisters, Nora Bennett and Mary Lou Segars, who have welcomed her into eternal rest.
The visitation for Gussie Hulsey will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home located at 1053 S. Elm Street in Commerce, Georgia. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 2405 Georgia 51 in Lula, Georgia, beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. John Wayne Abernathy and Dean Hix officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Gussie Hulsey will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family, and the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
