Gladys Bell Gary, a beloved member of her community and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 91 in Athens, Georgia. Born on September 10, 1934, in Franklin County, Georgia, Gladys was a remarkable individual whose life was dedicated to her family and home. She was known for her loving and kind spirit.
Throughout her life, Gladys exemplified the role of a devoted homemaker, creating a nurturing home environment for her loved ones. She was also a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, where she found joy and fellowship within her faith community.
Gladys leaves behind her loving daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Gary, as well as her sisters Agnes Bennett and Brenda Segars, who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Clementine Andrews Bell, first husband, Coy Millard Gary and second husband, Rosario Catalano. Additionally, she was reunited in spirit with her brothers: "Doc" Carlton Bell, Johnny Bell, Frank Bell, and Samuel Bell; and her sisters, Grace Fullbright Busha, Dearlene Jones, and Louise Pruitt, who all contributed to shaping her legacy.
Visitation will be held on December 13, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, Georgia. The funeral service, celebrating her remarkable life, will take place the following day, December 14, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM also at Ivie Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens.
Gladys will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her enduring impact on her family and friends serves as a testament to the love and kindness she shared throughout her life.
