Gary Lynn Chitwood

Gary Lynn Chitwood, age 69 of Homer, GA passed away on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021.

Born on May 22, 1952 in Missouri, Mr. Chitwood was the son of  the late  Telford Ray and Rose L. Herrien Chitwood. He was retired from the Sheriff Dept. and was a 20 year US Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by siblings, Patricia Ann Chitwood, Danny Jay Compton, Deborah Kay Compton Briggs, Dana Gay Compton Rodgers.

Survivors include his spouse, Mary  Chitwood, of the home; sons, Scott Lenard (Glennia) Chitwood, Charles (Stacey) Lanier, Jon (Julie) Lanier; Sundii Leann (Mark) Chitwood Schafer, Sherry (Winston) Fournier; brothers, Danny Jay Compton, Robert Dwight Chitwood, David Ray (Tracey Spriggs) Compton, Douglas Day (Mary) Compton, Dennis Lay Compton; sisters, Patricia Ann Chitwood, Deborah Kay Compton Briggs, Dana Gay Compton Rogers, Donna Fay (Andy) Compton Miller;  grandchildren, Victoria Chitwood, Allonna Chitwood, Lilyana Schafer, Logan Schafer, Kayla Lanier, Hannah Lanier, Connor Fournier, Hailey Lanier; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021 at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel with Janet Williams officiating. The family will receive friends 11 am until the funeral hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
