David Kurt Harvell

David "Kurt" Harvell, age 71, passed away on July 31, 2026, at Manor Place in Commerce, Georgia. He was born on June 1, 1955, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Otto and Chloe Harvell.

Kurt spent most of his life in Atlanta, where he worked for many years at The Coca-Cola Company before retiring. Following his retirement, he enjoyed a successful second career as a real estate agent. He was a dedicated volunteer with Project Open Hand for more than 12 years, helping prepare and pack meals for those in need. Kurt was also a faithful member of Buckhead Church, where he attended for more than 15 years.Kurt had a deep love for music and a passion for traveling. He found joy in experiencing new places and meeting new people, creating friendships everywhere he went. His friends spanned the country and even the world, a testament to the kind of person he was. No matter where life took him, Kurt had a remarkable way of making people feel welcome and valued.More than anything, Kurt will be remembered for the joy he brought to others. He had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room, and he had the rare gift of making anyone laugh. He never met a stranger, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him loved him. His kindness, generosity, quick wit, and genuine love for people left a lasting impression on countless lives.In 2019, Kurt moved from his home in Buckhead to Commerce, Georgia, to be closer to his family. Although he never had children of his own, his family was the center of his heart. 

Kurt is survived by his loving sister Cindi Potts (Lee Potts), his first cousin Jamie Mooney, his nieces Courtnie Dacus (Andra Dacus) and Christien Colbaugh (Barry Colbaugh), and his great-nieces and nephews Ciera Nall, Michael Nall, McKenzie Dacus (Kelsie Decker), Madison McLendon (Jake McLendon) and Shelby Colbaugh.Kurt's legacy is one of laughter, love, generosity, and friendship. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends from across the globe who will miss him dearly, and countless memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. 

Though he is no longer with us, his laughter, his kindness, and the joy he shared with everyone he met will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.Kurt's family is planning a celebration of life to honor his memory.
