David Julian Acosta, a bright and promising 10th-grade student, passed away on April 27, 2025, in Ila, Georgia, at the age of 16. Born on February 28, 2009, in Lexington, South Carolina, David lived his life with a radiant enthusiasm that touched the hearts of those around him.
A dedicated student at Madison County High School, David embraced his educational journey with curiosity and passion. His commitment to his studies was a testament to his character and determination. David was known not only for his academic prowess but also for his kindness and compassion towards friends and family alike. He was on the 4-H Shotgun Team, loved weightlifting, and was passionate for nature and outdoors.
In addition to his pursuits in education, David held a strong connection to his Baptist faith, which served as a guiding principle throughout his young life. His faith instilled in him a sense of community and belonging that resonated with everyone he encountered.
David is survived by his loving Parents, Nicholas B. Watkins and Mary Katherine Hooker, who have been a source of unwavering support and encouragement in his life. He leaves behind his cherished siblings: Brothers Thomas Acosta and Walker Watkins, and Sisters Elena Acosta, Marisol Calix, and Maria Romero, along with his Grandparents John and Alice Hooker, Robert and April Watkins, and Rebecca Stewart, Great-grandparents Connie and Ed Scarborough, Aunt Sarah Hooker, and an Uncle James Hooker. Each of them shared a unique bond with David and will remember him fondly.
The visitation and funeral service for David will be held at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on May 3, 2025. The visitation will commence at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
David Julian Acosta will always be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his laughter, and the joy he brought to the lives of those who loved him. His memory will forever shine in the hearts of his family and friends.
David's favorite color was blue and the family ask people to wear blue to the service in honor of him.
