Cathy Gail Carithers

Cathy Gail Carithers, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at the age of 69 in Athens, Georgia. Born on April 2, 1956, in Savannah, Georgia, Cathy dedicated her life to her family, her work, and her community.

Cathy enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Customer Service Agent with Georgia Power, where she served diligently for many decades. Her commitment to excellence and her devotion to helping others were hallmarks of her professional life, which she approached with a warm smile and unwavering dedication.

An active member of her community, Cathy was a faithful Christian who cherished her faith deeply. In her leisure time, she found joy in quilting and sewing, activities she often shared with her friends in Hartwell. Cathy’s creative spirit and passion for crafting left a lasting impression on all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Cathy is survived by her son, Anthony Licata, and his wife Katie, who will remember her love and kindness always. She is also remembered by her aunt, Linda Carithers, who has shared in her life’s journey.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Jason Hix Carithers, and her mother, Leila Mae Grantham Carithers, both of whom cherished her greatly and encouraged her compassionate nature throughout her life.

A graveside memorial service to celebrate Cathy’s life will be held on August 16, 2025, at Hix Family Cemetery in Commerce, Georgia. The service will begin at 11:00 AM.  Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Cathy are invited to attend and honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Madison-Oglethorpe  Animal Shelter.

Cathy Gail Carithers leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and friendship that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
