Billy Joe Ivey, a cherished member of the community, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 67 in Jefferson, Georgia. Born on November 29, 1957, in Snellville, Georgia, Billy Joe lived a life dedicated to his work and family, establishing a successful career as a self-employed hauler and grader. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all his endeavors.
Joe is survived by his beloved spouse, Janice Elaine Ivey, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. He was a devoted father to his three daughters, Amy (Aaron) Nguyen, Christy Ivey, and Mandi (Charlie) Martin, who carry forward his legacy with love and pride. He was also a doting grandfather to Titus Nguyen, Mackenzie Nguyen, Hannah Martin, and Jacob Martin, who brought immense joy to his life.
In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his sister, Dorothy Griffith, and his brother, Chuck (Teresa) Boruty. Billy Joe held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, reflecting the strong family ties that defined his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Athel Lee and Miriam Townley Ivey, and his brothers, Johnny Ivey and Randy Ivey, whose memories he cherished dearly.
Joe's life will be honored with a visitation at Pond Fork Baptist Church in Pendergrass, Georgia, on June 21, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The family invites all who knew and loved him to join in celebrating the life of a remarkable man whose spirit touched so many. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
