Alice Martin, a cherished member of her community, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Athens, GA, surrounded by love. Born on February 13, 1931, in Commerce, GA, Alice lived a life dedicated to family, community, and the art of homemaking.
Her favorite hobby was sewing clothes for her family, a talent that weaved beauty into the lives of those around her. Alice's warm and nurturing spirit was reflected in her countless acts of kindness and her unwavering support for her loved ones. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Jesus Saves Tabernacle Church.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Dillard and Anner Webb Crocker, and her beloved husband of 58 years, Junior Martin. She also mourned the loss of her son, Dennis Martin, along with her brothers Ranzo and Parno Crocker, sisters Lula Poe, Estelle Poe, Mamie Crocker, Marietta Crocker, and Gladys Marlowe, and her niece and nephew, Allen Poe and Diane Daniels.
Her legacy continues through her family, including her grandchildren Greg (Jeanan) Martin, Keith (Beth) Martin, and Jason (Janet) Martin, who look back fondly on the memories they shared with her. Alice also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Shirley Martin, and beloved great-grandchildren Kaylee Martin, Marietta Martin, Anna Beth Martin, and Aubrey Martin, nieces and nephews, JC Crocker, Shirley (Jimmy) Crane, Joan Martin, and Beverly (Lane) Allen as well as several great-great nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, GA, on March 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service on March 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Grey Hill Cemetery. The family invites all who knew and loved Alice to join them in honoring her life and legacy.
